Introduction
These release notes apply to the nShield Security World Card v2.0.
The release notes contain information specific to this release such as new features, defect fixes, and known issues. They may be updated with issues that have become known after this release has been made available. For the latest version, see https://nshieldsupport.entrust.com/hc/en-us/sections/360001115837-Release-Notes. Access to the Support Portal is available to customers under maintenance. To request an account, contact nshield.support@entrust.com.
We continuously improve the user documents and update them after the general availability (GA) release. Changes in the document set are recorded in these release notes and are published at https://nshielddocs.entrust.com.
Purpose of this release
Entrust is releasing a new smart card called "nShield Security World Card". This new card is capable of both local and remote admin and is replacing all previous generations of smart cards. Updated cards along with updated firmware, Connect image and client-side software is required. This document contains all the details required to use the new cards.
nShield releases will continue to support older generations of smart cards. Any change to this will be clearly announced in the Security World release notes. |
nShield Security World Card v2.0
The new nShield Security World Card v2.0 is a new nShield smart card that supports both local and remote operation. The new card supports all Security World versions.
nShield HSM Support
The new Security World cards require updated firmware and Connect image to work. Attempting to use the new cards with older releases that does not support the cards will not work and the cards will not be recognized. This section contains details of the firmware and Connect images required to use the new cards. The support has been back ported to a number of recent firmware releases ensuring an updated certified version of firmware is available to use the new cards.
If the firmware supports the new cards, it will list Type3SmartcardRevB
in the Level six flags
when running enquiry
against the firmware.

nShield Connect XC
The nShield Connect XC image must contain an updated version of nShield Solo XC firmware that support the new cards. When selecting a nShield Connect XC image ensure it contains a supported nShield Solo XC firmware listed in the table.

Security World and Remote Admin Support
The new Security World cards require updated client-side to work alongside the updated firmware and Connect image. Attempting to use the new cards with older releases that does not support the cards will not work and the cards will not be recognized. This section contains details of the client-side required to use the new cards.
